Streetwise is the umbrella name for the outreach ministry of Praise Chapel. The name Streetwise is based on Proverbs chapter 11: 30 ”...He who wins souls is wise”. In other words it takes wisdom to win souls. Streetwise comprises the following teams: Street TeamThe team goes out on the streets with music and song once a month and ministers to people on the streets. You will normally find the team at Kilburn Square market on the appointed Saturday singing and dancing to music and ministering to passers by. A large number of people have been ministered to and have received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior as a result of the street concerts. Most people are attracted by the music and song and the team are able to engage and minister to them. We've found that one of the songs which always touches people's hearts most is Amazing Grace and that is a constant reminder of the importance of God’s grace to us all!
Prisons Team
The prisons team operate through an external Christian prison outreach network called Prisons Outreach Network (PON). The PON comprises of a number of people drawn from various churches who have a desire to reach out to people in the prisons. The PON also provides a fellowship home for born again ex-offenders to help them grow their relatively new found relationship in Christ. The PON has general security access clearance for prisons across the country however each new member has to undergo formal training and apply for individual security clearance.
Elderly TeamThe elderly team regularly visits and fellowships with some residents of an elderly peoples home - Lauriston Lodge - and other elderly residents in the community. They enjoy simple fellowship with the elderly residents through sharing the Word of God, singing and showing the love of Jesus Christ in their actions.
One of their recent fellowship events was a very enjoyable barbecue for the elderly residents of Lauriston Lodge.
There is also an annual Christmas lunch provided by Praise Chapel which the elderly residents always look forward to eagerly!
Kidz KlubKidz Klub as the name implies is targeted at children (typically between the ages of 5 to 11) in the community. Sessions are held every last Saturday of the month and the sessions are open to all children in the community.
The sessions are fun filled with games, music and life lessons based on themes set for each month. The lessons are powerful and simple enough for the children to understand. Hundreds of children in the community have enjoyed and continue to enjoy taking part in Kidz Klub. Mumz Klub
Mumz Klub was birthed out of Kidz Klub. The team ministers to mothers who bring their children to the Kidz Klub sessions. The team have coffee and fellowship with mums and minister to them in body, soul and spirit by sharing the love of Jesus Christ with them.
Drama TeamThe drama team works alongside all the other Streetwise teams supporting their ministry activities with drama and dance. A good number of the drama team members are also members of other Streetwise teams.
Homeless TeamThe homeless team visits homeless people once a week on Wednesdays to fellowship with them and meet their needs by sharing the love and compassion of Jesus Christ with them.
